Breeders Poster

Breeders Poster
To commemorate their August 18th show, Thematic is offering an original gig poster, commissioned and designed by Michael Laurence.
This poster’s design draws inspiration from the mad genius of Kim Deal and Vaughan Oliver (RIP). Kim is just the coolest, and Vaughan’s influence on design can’t be overstated. This design honors his iconic cover design for “Last Splash” and reflects wider influences such as: Joseph Cornell, Jean-Michel Basquiat, David Lynch, Henry Vandyke Carter (Gray’s Anatomy c. 1858), Nychos, Danny Quirk, Rex Ray, and others.
Taking the heart motif to surreal heights, this poster features a richly layered composition that references themes of: anatomy, history, intimacy, detachment, mundanity, and the absurd. The intended effect is a visceral sense of “corporal surrealism,” it also serves as cultural commentary on corporatization and independent music.
This poster is offered in a strictly-limited artist edition of 100. Each is litho printed on premium 100# smooth uncoated cover stock, with archival inks. Prints measure 13×19 inches, and are hand-signed and numbered on verso. Packaged and shipped quickly and securely. Thematic’s Breeders posters are available for a suggested donation of $50.00 USD each (not for sale), plus shipping. Posters are unframed.
*Please note: This poster is an independent, self-commissioned cultural statement and therefore is not formally affiliated with the venue, promoter, band, label, or management.
