Black Marble Poster
“A Pattern of Make Believe”
To commemorate their August 29th show, Thematic is offering an original gig poster, commissioned and designed by Michael Laurence. The design draws inspiration from Chris Stewart’s New Wave resonance, and reflects wider influences including: Robert Rauschenberg, Joseph Cornell, Mike & Doug Starn, Josef Albers, Jean-Michel Basquiat, David Lynch, Vaughan Oliver, Peter Saville, Tomato Studio UK, and others.
Taking visual cues from their hybrid analog/digital roots, this design features an intricately layered assemblage that references themes of: nostalgia, longing, fractured communication, authenticity, changing environments, early space exploration, distance, time, and the physics of light. The intended effect is a hazy perception of an abstract “temporal dreamscape."
This Thematic gig poster is offered in a strictly-limited artist edition of 75. Each is litho printed on premium 100# smooth uncoated cover stock, with archival inks. Prints measure 13×19 inches, and are hand-signed and numbered on verso. Packaged and shipped quickly and securely. Posters are sold unframed.
Released: August 30, 2026
*Please note: This poster is an independent, self-commissioned, personal artistic statement and therefore is not formally affiliated with the venue, promoter, band, label, or management.
